Has anyone bred Pekin and welsh harlequin ducks together??

Pics
I also had a little runt with a completely curled up foot that was struggling to survive. I dosed her up with B Complex and made her a little shoe out of a piece of credit card, painters tape and a waterproof bandaid. Now she is the boss and you would never even know she had issues in the beginning. I hope the same for yours. The pics of her foot are kind of fuzzy but I think you can get tell it is not right. The last one is her now. Let me tell you she is spoiled rotten from all of the extra attention. I don't tell the others but she is totally my favorite now!
Oh wow...that's awesome, your ducks are gorgeous. I love success stories, definately helps give me drive to move forward. This has actually been a pretty hard process. I stay positive most of the time, knowing we'll do whatever we can to help her, give her a good life...... but every now & then, I watch her struggle, or get frustrated, & wonder if shes miserable. I'd like to think shes happy, and I Know shes spoiled rotten. I'm still trying to give the others attention too, tho. So needless to say, my laundry & dishes are piling up:idunno:hmm. I'm going to try and make her shoes today, hopefully that will help. The front of her feet curl UP, so I'll just have to adjust some.
Thanks so much again, you have no clue how much it means to have all of you through this for help, support, ideas, and these awesome success stories. :love:hugs

I actually used one pipe cleaner but bent/shaped it so there were 3 prongs more or less. I put painters tape under the pipe cleaner and I gently pressed her toes down so they would kind of stick to the painters tape (chose that so it would not rip her skin) and then covered the top of her foot with the painters tape. Then wrapped in the waterproof band-aid. She responded immediately. I started out using the piece of credit card but it just seemed too heavy and I was getting frustrated that it kept falling off. I was about to give up when @Miss Lydia sent me the sweetest note of encouragement not to give up and just take a deep breath. That is when I started looking to see what the hell else I could use for this poor baby. I had some pipe cleaner in my craft box. BINGO!! Worked like a charm.

Eating and drinking are good ways to tell she isn’t sick. Pooping good too? Is she relaxed? How is she usually unable to relax? Just trying to get a since of what your seeing. Have you put Callie In with her for stimulation? Have you made her shoes yet? I meant to ask you too the little one that hatched with splay leg is that one okay now?

Ok, well, yes she is pooping....back to normal. The lil one, last hatch, breech, is Callie. Her legs are just right. Must've just been because she was breech and packed into the pointy side, she had a real rough hatch, but made it perfectly.
Yes, I put Callie & Joy together several times a day. Sometimes when Callie is with Marley & Mable, she'll cone to the side of her brooder, and chirp, ouke when they're hollering for us, or food....... but, I plop her out with Joy, and they're content. I love it. At night I dont, mainly because Joy has such a quiet, tiny chirp, & I'm scared I wont wake up if Callie is on top of her & shes stuck. Callie likes to be up & on something, & with Joy, it's on her. Silly lil thing. I massaged her legs & thighs this morning doing her stretches but she doesnt like to be out of her "burrito bundle" anymore. (I started wrapping her up in one of our old tshirts to help her sleep at night ....thought it would smell like us & ease her a little bit.) Anyway, even tho were sweating like crazy, shes always cold. We did start the shoes today. My husband was "walking" & stretching her while I was taking measurements.:D So, tomorrow morning I'll put them on her feet. She was exhausted.
Today, tho, I started letting her take bites on her own of dry crumble, holding her water cup near by, and she ate like a champ so I was excited about that. The wet, pasty crumble mash left us all a splattered mess.:lol::lol:. Her legs DO bend every way, but she automatically shoots them straight at all times, so that's what we have to work on asap. It's getting harder & harder to bend them each day. Usually, I can sit her leaned up against something & she would sit with Callie or us & peck or wiggle, just playing. Now, she stiffens her legs straight so hard that she flops over, back, forward..... its tough to watch. But..... again, Day by Day is our motto. Another thing that worries me is her weight. It is virtually impossible to get her weight with this "sit-on" weight machine (vs. one like the grocery store that can hold the weight below it), until shes flat footed anyway. But it's looking like she weighs exactly the same as she did before, approx.
