Has anyone converted one of these?

Hello, I'm looking at converting this plastic shed in to a coop/indoor run (when raining) for our five girls. Has anyone done this before and can give any advice? They have access to a large outdoor run about 4 x 5 metres as well. Their old wooden home has a floor which is about to rust through and needs a long overdue upgrade.

It seems to me that even after adding an automatic door and a freestanding nestbox and perch setup this would be a much more cost effective setup than buying an Eglu? I'm particularly attracted to the extra indoor floor space and the light roof panels (very handy for up here in grey, rainy Scotland). Any tips/advice would be welcome.

Welcome to BYC.

The hard part of converting a plastic shed for chickens is adding enough ventilation.

Have a look at this thread about a plastic shed conversion and you'll find some inspiration: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/my-first-attempt-at-a-coop-and-run.1454908/

The light-transmitting roof panels are a great example of why climate matters. In my climate they would create an oven and result in roasted chicken. But in yours they are very likely to improve the livability of the coop. :)
