Has anyone ever bought egg's off ebay before?

Shipped eggs are always a gamble. Occasionally someone will say they had a 100% hatch. Somewhat more often someone posts they had nothing at all hatch. Everyone else falls somewhere in between. If you get 50% it seems to be about the average. No telling what sort of trip they had in the mail.

I have bought several and several different sellers, its a chance you are taking and you need to read their feedback and their ratings. I do not buy from folks who are across the country from me and not in extreme temperatures, hot months or real cold months in the region you are getting them from. I personally have gotten a 65 % hatch rate overall, thats from several different vendors over the last 5 years. Do your homework, Good luck and God bless.

I mostly sell on there now though I have bought before in the past. I believe I have had 1 good hatch from who knows how many purchases from ebay eggs. I don't think most people on there know how to ship or store them properly. I don't buy hatching eggs much at all anymore, if I can't afford adult birds I don't get them.

I have purchased eggs from eBay sellers several times, with mixed results. I will continue to buy from eBay, although I prefer buying from BYC auctions. I'm one of those people who doesn't mind a low hatch rate, because I usually am just trying to add a couple new breeds to my flock. However, I won't pay high prices for any auction (unless it's on BYC) because shipped eggs are always iffy.

I recently purchased frizzle cochin eggs from ebay and so far so good! I am on day 20 and when candled all where developing but one i live in ohio and they came from North Carolina...the packaging was awesome i got 11 eggs all intact! Will hafta get back to ya on hatch rate!

I hatch shipped eggs all the time. Hatch rates vary. Right now Im hatching some sebrights and old english game bantams. I just hatched some silkies and button quail. For the silkies, I had 11 of 12 eggs hatch and 10 of 15 for the button quail. Its a gamble and sometimes you lose, but its a lot more fun than going to the casino or buying a lottery ticket!
