just wondering what the results of this would be. I know a rhode island white and a rhode island red makes isa browns. but what about the white and the buff orp. i would love to see pics of this. thanks!

Do a search, there have been lots of threads on this one. Speckledhen has a very pretty girl from that cross. Mine is the biggest of my girls, and she just started laying. Her body type and feathering are orpington and her color is slightly darker than a RSL. She is developing some nice lacing on her feathers. She is bigger than my buff orp hens.

Hey I also plan to do this cross with my Rhode Island White Pullets and a Buff Orp roo. they are still young now. I crossed a Buff roo with a CornishXrock hen one time and got a beautiful hen that had a buff head, buff lacing towards her breast and solid white towards the back end and tail. I hope the Buff X RIWs will be about the same.

Buff Orp X RIW ought to be sex links. RIW are said to be silver. They will not have the same appearance of the Buff Orp X white meat hybrids. It sounds as if the white meat hybrids were, in that instance, dominant white (& probably other genes) on black.

Yeah, the cornish cross was dominant white because when I crossed her wiith a RIR, all the chicks were white with black dots, I just hope I get something similar to the one I got from this cross.

That would be unlikely because RIW are said to be silver rather than black under the white.
It was the black under the hybrid (& the single dominant white gene) which caused the effect. Without the black it will not work you will just get sex links, presuming the female to be the RIW.

Yes the hens will be the RIWs and I know they will be sexlinks. What colors do you thinks they would be. I would think buff/golden and white hens and white roos.

More or less.
Rather than having buff heads & front with the white markings with much of the latter half of the birds fading to white as you had with your buff orp X meat hybrids, I'd expect the pullets would probably be buff with just their tails & possibly flights, white. The males would probably mature to be white with brassy hackles & possibly other gold leakage, maybe on the shoulders.
