Wow I just got a really good deal. I went to a broiler house and they just started doing their thing with the chickens....they get day olds and raise them and once they get so old - it is off to the market they go. Well in between the older chickens saying oodbye and the new chicks arriving - they have to get rid of everything and sanatize the place. they have huge barrels of chick starter and I bought 4 barrels for 20 bucks each - it probably holds about 300 pounds of chick starter....and I also got a few other goodies they didnt feel like cleaning...yeah for me!

Wow, what a deal!!

I've read and been told by organic feed farmers that grains, once cracked, lose their nutritional value pretty quickly, especially in hot weather. I started using fresh organic feed three weeks ago and now my chickens avoid the proccessed stuff like poison.

Just a thought.
