Has anyone ever ordered chicks or waterfowl from hatcheries online?

We've gotten chicks from breeders, a small hatchery and a large online hatchery. No big complaints and all have been much more dependable than feed stores.

You should at least get what you ask for which is nice compared to what you and countless others have gone through at TSC. Of course, hatchery birds may be good or poor quality (or anywhere in between) when compared to the standard. We've gotten both beautiful birds and birds with imperfections but that's perfectly fine for our layer flock.

The only advice I'd add is to consider ordering from a (reputable) hatchery as close to you as possible to try to minimize shipping time, especially with the heat in many areas right now. We actually drive 2-3 hours each way to pick our chicks up so they don't have to deal with shipping. Chicks usually come through shipment fine but longer trips or trips with extreme temperatures are harder.

In our region, Meyer is the closest good option. Folks seem to have good experiences with a variety of others as well.

I got 15 from Townline Hatchery and they have been amazing.

This was my first time ordering from them! All of them are healthy so far - they hatched June 1. I got 5 different breed and got all the right ones, and they are all looking like pullets as ordered! So I really had a good experience!

I've gotten the ISAs from Townline, and we are in NV so they traveled a long way. The chicks were great and fine upon arrival. Very solid, healthy hens. Great customer service and very knowledgeable people. They were awesome to work with and very concerned about the condition of the birds on arrival.

I've gotten ISAs from Townline several times. They are great players.

I'm just across state and have never had a problem and their broilers are great also. I have a couple barred Rocks, ISAs and Amber Links and broilers from Townline right now

It's cool that they were so concerned about shipping your way, they should be though.

10 black standard Sumatra - received 10, 2 died later on
3 standard turkens - received 4

All were st. Run and rather even genderwise
