I just went out to give them cold water from the hose and I watered the floor of the run....then I put a fine spray on them...............they didn't act like they liked it but it's dang hot here.......like 95 and humid and the fan is basically blowing hot air. So, I hosed them down a bit.

I don't know if that's good or bad.

Mine hate this as well. I have even tried "misting" the hose, but they still don't like it. So, I just wet the ground in their run. When I am done, all of them are very happy to dig, scratch, and dust in wet areas. They LOVE this!

you didn't do any harm to your chickens. I'm sure it cooled them down a bit. I hose my turkeys down all the time. Your right it is hot!! It has to feel good!! So we would think.

You turn the hose on em and they act like it's buffalo wing sauce...but they'll stay out in the rain...Mike when he was younger used to grab Obelisk and carry her through the sprinkler while I put Slifer in the wading pool.

I put the hose on my hens too! They run to and fro in the chicken run, acting like they are dying from falling rain or water. After I finish spraying them, they just shake their feathers and go about their business as if nothing ever happened to them. They are soooo funny to watch.

Yea I sprayed mine off w/ the hose yesterday, she didn't like it but Id rather do that than have a chicken dying of heat stroke.

I have dug a small shallow hole in their area to put water in and they love to scratch around in it and get their feet wet. I also put a rotating sprinkler in my backyard and placed it so it will get a quarter of their run wet, now they have the option of staying dry or getting wet. I actually have one rooster that will stand and wait for it to come around and he'll fluff his feathers right before it comes so he can feel it!

I have a little kids swimming pool in the pen and it's filled with sand. I get that wet too so if they need to cool down they can lay in wet sand. Gee......I get hot just being out there for a few minutes. We have a tarp over half of the pen so they are not in complete sun.

They do act like it's hot sauce though........funny
