has anyone ever raised crows to chase away hawks??

i have millions of crows my neighbors cornfield is right on the otherside of the road i doubt if i would use them to detear hawks though ive heard that they will kill chicks or even small bantys but then my sky has turned completely black on more then 1 ocasion with crows and the noise of there caws and have not lost a free range chicken yet noted i have a 15pund roo but they all run for cover when theres alot of crows

the other day my hubby actually picked up a crow that was sitting on the chicken coop step. brought him in for a sec and give him a bit od bread and then let him go. he wasnt very nervous. usually crows here we see are the eagles entourage or groupies so to speak haha .when an eagle is feeding on say a carcass or something the crows are right there or close by watching to move in to get any scraps they can.

if you want magpies to stick aroun they LOVE dog kible. i usualy mix dry dog food with corn and sunflowerseeds to keep them around, it also works fok keeping them out of your garden

oh and crow are NOT protected but ravens ARE. you have to make absolutly sur you have caught a crow and not a young raven (some people cant tell them apart for some reason

) you can get into alot of truble for that however you can obtain permits to keep a raven.

Never thought about raising them. There's plenty around anyhow. They not only chase the hawks, but they give the pair of golden eagles that nest on the farm a really bad time too. Now that's a show.
