Hi all,
Im looking after a beautiful little poddy foal and have some questions:
Today was my first day with him.
He just sniffed the milk in the bucket but wouldnt drink it.
My Dh wanted to get out of the paddock as it was pouring rain and he was getting wet!!!
We drove home and im hoping he did drink something.
It was a long drive on a windy narrow dangerous road!!
Im going back tommorrow, his owner comes back on Friday so Ive only got tommorrow to feed him then she is back.
What if I get out there and he hasnt touched it?
How long can he go without his milk???
It is a foal formula.
I should add that he is over the bottle stage and is now drinking from the bucket!!!

If he is past the bottle stage and is drinking water on his own he should be fine with no milk. I wean calves at 2 mths when I am bottle feeding as they get to rough. I have heard some do this with horses but I dont think I would . He should be fine if he didnt drink it .

Well, LOL, I learned a new word today! Nope, "poddy" is not universal.

Could it be that you don't smell like your friend? Since she would be his adopted mother? Maybe a shirt or something that smells like her would help.

If that were a universal word we sould be sending our charity monies to a Poddhanage instead of am Orphanage, lol!! I agree with Cynthia, never heard that one but then you learn somethin new everyday---especially on this forum, lol!!!

I was looking forward to a pic of an AUSTRALIAN ???? Platypus, wombat, Roo(the Kanga type).....but NO its just a orphaned horse, Ican see horses next door. Now I just learned a new TERM....... Maybe next time an exotic pic from far away...
