Has anyone fed uncooked rice to their flock?

I have some rice in the pantry that has bugs in it, so I was going to throw it out. Then I thought about feeding it to my hens, so I googled to see if it's ok. Some people warned...No don't feed it to them because it will expand inside them causing digestion problems. Other sites said that is a myth & it's an ingredient in some chicken feed, plus you feed them dried corn without issue.

So I thought I'd ask here: Has anyone actually fed uncooked rice to their hens, and if so what was the outcome? Thanks, all!

Grain weevils are protein. I would be very, very, very, caucus about following the advise of Ann Landers about the advisability of feeding uncooked rice or anything else to chickens.

OMG, I am sure that your chickens find much more gross things than weevil infested rice to chowdown on when they are free ranging in your backyard. The difference is that you can't see those choice gross tidbits that your chickens eat.

A lie or a column from a farming genius like Ann Landers goes all the way around the Earth while the truth is pulling its socks on.

Yes, I fed mine uncooked rice. They loved it. Just like uncooked wheat, sunflower seeds and other grains. No worries, it is all good.

Rice is just grass seeds - like wheat. They do eat quite a bit of grass seed when it goes to head.
