Has anyone found an Organic or Non-GMO All Flock?

http://happyhens.bizThey're in Brighton. have not tried them or looked at the food and would love to hear if you do! Price is great compared to others I've seen. Ingredients are listed here http://happyhens.biz/ingredients/

Ranch way is the only other local one I'm aware of. Can't you pickup right from their store?

Other than them there's http://www.fehringerfarms.com/
In Nebraska.

Not sure they are all flock though, might only be layer

Organic will never be cost effective as compared to conventional.
You should be cautious of sources. I used to get an organic grower feed from Nature's Grown that was a reasonable price. However that was only because we had a feed co-op when we bought in bulk. I've found the same feed at a few area stores. The cost was almost twice what I bought it for fresh. It was always old. The freshest I found was 6 months old and one store had it 2 years old. The problem is that most don't want to pay that much for feed and it sits on the store shelf till it is virtually junk, devoid most vitamins and amino acids.
Fat soluble vitamins are stored in the liver and other fats in the body. Water soluble vitamins must be consumed every day.
Providing good nutrition means the feed should be fresh.
Feeding organic feed that is 6 months old will be much poorer nutrition than what battery hens get fed a conventional feed that was milled the day before.

Yep the freshness is something I’m definitely concerned about. I’m going to have to keep pondering what to do.

Oh wow that company looks awesome!!! I’m only seeing layer feed though and since I have roosters I’m worried about that much calcium intake.
I totally didn’t realize ranchway is local to me! I’m going to look into that more. Thanks so much!

Good post. I’ve been looking for an “all flock” type feed that is organic also and can’t find any except for the chick starter. Expensive! My brother is buying all my excess eggs and is willing to paying the difference between organic and regular feed so he can have organic eggs. I don’t care personally whether their feed is organic but my birds seem to do better with Purina Flock Raiser rather than the 16% protein you get in layer feeds. I’m going to have to tell him will have to pay considerably more for feed if he wants organic eggs because I don’t want to keep my birds on layer feed any longer.

I saw in a FB post that Nature's Best is coming out with an all flock. Can't find any details, but I would imagine that the details will be out soon. That said, it will probably won't be cheaper than chick starter, as more protein means more $. NB is carried at TSC, but don't know if it's carried out west.

Not sure if either of these brands are available to you OP, but I know Modesto Milling makes a grower pellet and Payback makes a hatch-to-hen crumble. Both are organic.
