Hi everyone,

2 months ago. 7 of my pullets went missing whilst free ranging.
5 went missing, then 1 and then another. No signs of a predator taken them or anything. So its unknown as to what happened to them. They had also been successfully free ranging for weeks prior.

Has everyone ever had some of their flock go missing then return again?
If yes, how long were they missing for before they returned?

Just curious if everyone has ever been lucky enough to get their birds back.

Not me, mine will not be able to free range because I live in the suburbs, but a friend of mine who’s had a bit of experience with owning chickens before had her girl come back.
She had two pullets, one called Chubby Buffy and another Mini Buffy. They were free ranging and got lost at noon but Chubby Buffy came back two days after, unscathed. Sadly, Mini Buffy was gone. :( It’s truly a miracle that actually happened! She was super lucky...
I’m also sorry about your gals. :( Hopefully they might come back like the Chubby did!

Sadly my friend’s dad culled Chubby after a month because of possibly Marek’s. They recently got 5 golden laced Wyandottes happily free ranging... they have very lucky chickens!

One time I had a dog attack and the roosters led all their groups of hens way out into the woods, they all returned before night though. I also had a dog chase one of the roosters off the property, I had to go to school but when I came back he had returned. I have never had a bird go missing for more than one night, 2 months is a lot of time, it kinda sounds like a fox got yours.
