i ahve read on this site about problems with Ravens taking hens and just leaving the feet! we don't have ravens but rooks which are from the same family (Corvids). The crows are not a problem, but I am a bit worried about the rooks. We spotted 3 this morning checking out our open run for our hens. We put our hens in the inclosed run for their safety. I might net the top of the open run to make it safe.

So has anyone else has birds taken by Rooks?

No, no rooks here. But I highly recommend bird netting over the run. Here, it's inexpensive and comes in 50 and 75 foot rolls, 14 feet wide. Easy to toss over the run fence, zip tie down, and then put tall garden poles up in the middle of the spans to hold the swag up (so you can walk under it without fighting with netting).

My chickens would be miserable being stuck inside during this heat... or simply just stuck inside. They love outside so much!
