Has anyone had success w an electric skillet?

Doesn't hurt to try. Good for you!

I don't think I could, though. I am a Capricorn. We like predictability too much.

I tried and failed, but it was my very first hatch and I did EVERYTHING wrong, so I'm not a good benchmark.

There are a couple of threads, mostly ones started by Farmer Kitty who inspired me to try it.

Well, we did it about thirty five years ago. Someone gave my mother an electric skillet as a gift. It was made of aluminum, so she was afraid to use it.

Well, the zanjeros were going to spray the canal bank with weed killer, so they gave us the eggs from a duck nest they found.

We puts some towels down in the skillet, and set the eggs. We turned them and sprayed them with water three or four times a day. We changed the towels daily so they didn't get stanky.

Well, it worked. They hatched, grew up and then one day they just took off.

It worked despite the fact that we didn't know it wouldn't. Never underestimate the power of ignorance.

I double checked and the incubator is $40. I may go get the skillet. I have a buddy selling mixed eggs for 1.25 at the swap meet so I could test it with those. I guess if the skillet is still there it's a sign. Maybe I should wait though since I am about to get 40 eggs in the mail and have 13 in the bator now.

you can pick up those old aluminum ones at flea markets and yard sales every Saturday. I have a couple I got for a buck. I'm going to try to set some more soon and see if I have better luck!
