i don't think it's inhumane if you take care of them properly. in all honesty, i believe that its no different from breeding chickens for the sole purpose of meat, or breeding chickens for the sole purpose of laying eggs and keeping them in small cages. producing eggs is pretty tough work, and the chickens need to be fed more calcium then their ancestors, the Indian jungle fowl.
but i agree that they would need to be in a very warm climate, because here in Alaska they wouldn't have a chance unless they were kept inside for most of the year.
i would eat one.
