Why is his skin so red-pink?

I dont think that happened on its own.....

The males skin is red because of the testosterone (sp?)

I have heard about these naked chickens before.. But not from a scientist breeding place.. I saw them in an article about some naked chickens showing up in a remote village some where.. It was said that they were inbred..

Did you see the huge comb on that one rooster..

Poor girls need saddles so the rooster dont hurt their backs...

i don't think it's inhumane if you take care of them properly. in all honesty, i believe that its no different from breeding chickens for the sole purpose of meat, or breeding chickens for the sole purpose of laying eggs and keeping them in small cages. producing eggs is pretty tough work, and the chickens need to be fed more calcium then their ancestors, the Indian jungle fowl.

but i agree that they would need to be in a very warm climate, because here in Alaska they wouldn't have a chance unless they were kept inside for most of the year.


i would eat one.

The last featherless chicken that I saw was in the supermarket. Do you have a picture of this? It reminds me of the square watermelon that was made so that more watermelons would fit into boxes. Don't you wonder if all of these genetic mutations that we're doing will hurt us in the long run?

I think they are kinda creepy.
I feel bad for them.

I understand the reasoning behind it completely... but they just don't look right.

Those chickens are really ugly but they all looked very healthy- I didn't see any marks on their skin or anything. I guess they are like everything else. If they have a use people will raise them and if not- They'll eventually fade away. But then that would eliminate one of the the nastiest parts of processing your own. plucking

i think they're cute. if it wasn't so darn cold here, i would buy a few just to have around

it's no different than breeding dogs.
large breed slike malamutes have terrible bone problems.
bulldogs have breathing problems.
40% of all dalmatians born are deaf.

are these not cruel?

all they are doing for these chickens are altering them so that the chicken doesn't over-heat in hot climates. he mentioned that in the video.
also, silkies seem to have problems seeing here they are going. is THAT not cruel?
