Has anyone heard of putting food coloring in a hens vent?

On the OT's thread they said to usee lip stick around the vent. Since it stays on longer....haven't tried it but am tempted to. Is it possible for the same chicken to lay speckled and smooth eggs??

Oh haha well I just held them upsidown and waited for the vent to "open" kinda and my daughter dropped a few drops in.

I know this is old but curious if you ever tried again? We have tried scrap hens but I just read the part about mineral oil and actually putting it in the vent for 3 days in a row!

We still have food coloring so we'll try again!
