I had them for years, They are half price now if that makes $500 + sound better to you now.
These are a special care bird though, just incase you arent aware of that. They are a merganser species that naturally eat fish and crustaceans in the wild.
Hi protein feeds, and floating catfish food is pretty much a must for them.
I also kept out minow traps in our pond/swamp amd fed them everything that we caught, fish, eels, crawfish, etc, they loved that.
If you are new to this, (dont know you level with them) I'd highly recommend you start with Hooded Mergansers first and work your way up.
Yearlings are the only way you'll find these guys, no one in their right mind will sell eggs or ducklings out of them.
Oh, that's another thing, if you do eventually raise any, hooded, or smew, they must be started with mealworms, like I said, they are live food eaters, and just have no idea what to do with crumbles at first!!
