Has anyone heard of this?

I don't have that problem with my hens, but I do have a problem with my goose, she attacks my orange colored hens that I have, like the Buffs and my one orange cat!!

Well, I guess that explains why one of my girls pecked at a week-old mosquito bite on my leg awhile back: It was RED & already scabbed over, but she just needed one good PECK, and drew blood! Yeah, I got outta the pen more quickly that day!

Interesting with the red attraction, reminds me of the hummingbird feeders I have.

I got a pair of pretty muck boots for my birthday last year. They have a colorful, swirly pattern with blotches of red. The boot has a red splotch with some black spots in it, and the girls go crazy for it. Every day. It's hard to walk with a few dozen birds crowding around, pecking your feet. I had to put a piece of duct tape over the spot. Problem was instantly solved. Bizarre.

Good luck! They're certainly interesting creatures.

Yea shes a she. Shes a year old now. The thought had crossed my mind that she took on the roll of a rooster. But she only does it when I wear red.

I had a barred rock rooster that seemed as docile as can be until my daughter got red rubber boots for her b-day.
He went balistic when he saw them and attacked her the next day even when she did'nt have them on.
I finally had to give him away because his behavior was always bad after the boots thing.

I went out to give my girls some treats today wearing flip flops and they attacked my red toenails. I was really surprised by this since they normally don't peck at me and they were more interested in my toes than the food. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!
