Thank you for your post. At the time of the photos, they were young. Not even in production yet. The rooster matured out to be almost as tall as a leghorn. and the hens are now different sizes. although not as heavy as some of the larger types like barred rock, they are tall and leggy. just not heavy bodied. When I took the photos for the website they were about three months old. The rooster was just old enough to begin a crackly crow. I was just curious about the breeds that these were supposed to be, as they were a gift from a Cuban man if Miami. They are agressive to each other but very sweet and accepting of people. I recently used a hen and rooster for a petting farm and they were the hit! The rooster sat on the fence, let everyone pet him and hold him and crowed when there there was a lull in traffic tas if to draw attention of the kids to come over and pet him. It was quite amusing!
I was under the impression from other answers to an ealier posing of the question that they were of the Bantum group. I now stand corrected. The rooster that is on the website was so desired in Miami for fighting that my freind turned down $2,500.00 for him. He had no desire for Congo to be fought and used for that so to keep him from being stolen, he brought him to me, a three hour drive away to protect him.
have had many people contact me that wish to purchase him and have resisted all offers. Unfortunately, my well meaning ex put out ant bait near the pens and becouse Congo was so used to being hand fed, he injested it and died. It was a very sad day. But we did have several broods hatching from him and have kept several from him to keep the line around.
