I'm down to one bator running right now...that set is all packed up.I used the frame of my Hova Bator turner with motor since I had it already.Started with flat solid pvc and cut to width and length. Cut a hole thru the pvc and added a metal rod all the way thru it-towards the bottom of it..don't remember from what project they came from but they had a bend up at just the right angle to hook into the holes already in the frame-had to cut the rod to length...Added a plastic gromet to the hole because it was a hair off and it works perfectly. You could also do the entire frame and all using the same pvc...the turners are all plastic now that you buy...other than the motor.Oh the holes to hold the eggs were cut out just like they are on the turners...same size and angle.
My only disclaimer to this is my husband is a custom builder and has been for 30 years houses and furniture..there has never been a project he can't build if he has a picture. He's also just as good with electronics and motors/engines-he understands how it all works(haven't paid a mechanic in 20 years either) Now I'm not sure what it would have cost to buy the materials we used..may not be much cheaper than if you just bought the racks but we always have scrap left over from houses so it cost us nothing.
He has one up on me now...I always complain when I see a new bucket full of unknown pieces of stuff come out of his truck..where would we ever need it? Now I know
Next I'm getting the triple cabinet bator-3 bators in one so I can stager hatch without worrying about humidity levels plus it's going to have a hatching unit in the bottom...My Christmas present so it had better be ready for early Spring hatches. Some presents from Christmas pasts I'm still waiting on
