Has anyone seen and egg like this?!

I had my first grainy egg the other day too! Not sure if maybe she ate too much oyster shell the day before or what???

I sometimes get eggs like that as well--today two. I wish I knew why these happen, although it is not often. If I find out the reason I will let you know for sure!

I've seen/felt the grainy egg thing too, RIR girls, 1.5 yrs old...most recently there is a bump, nickel sized that is either "wrinkled" or looks cracked but it still sealed, that is you can't feel the cracks you see. hmmm The cracked part looks darker, like blue-ish, almost like a bruse (sp) or something. The same pullet, as they lay there own unique shade of brown...and size. Only have 4 girls to keep track of.

Today it looks like the hen that lays the lightest shade of brown has a darker (blue-ish) spot starting as well. hmmm

They are acting fine...happy, warm, talk to me when I approach the hen house...everything normal (for us

When I get a little more time I will follow gritsar link and do some researching, just relieved to see it's not only my girls putting out some ufo's ...ahh, that is...ufe's

Thank you for the very imformative link. It explains a lot.

On another note, though, I got a "fart egg" today

Have never seen that in mine or on this forum. I do have one that lays eggs that are a champagne beige color and are rough textured. I feel sorry for her, but not sorry enough to lube her up daily with vaseline tho.

When I have a fart, I always pray that I don't have an egg!

I have gotten that on a couple eggs. I think it's the bloom. It should wash right off.
