Has anyone set there eggs today 12/3/14

Heya thats great news about the eggs! Not long now 9 more days! I ended up getting 2 beautiful light sussex and a sweet rhode rock pullets. Yes I agree Lovely weather a bit up and down over here Rain then sun rain then sun Lol. My hen is doing great thanks she is still sitting tight on her five eggs so fingers crossed in a week we will both have some chickies

hi how is it going ?
how are your new ladies settling in?

have you ever used an incubator ?

because I am new to it all I hoping the humidity is right I am running it at 50%
but if you read other users they run it at 40% if not lower but all the fact documents
say 50 to 55% maybe its only in the USA they run the humidity lower
just wounded if you have incubated any eggs

Hello Yes I have incubated a few times and have kept the humidity around 45-50% and then nocked it up to around 70-75% Humidity at lock down and had great hatch rates! Yes they settled in well and are very happy I'm surprised there has been no fighting or picking on each other just the odd peck from you young cockerel. How are your eggs doing not long now only 8 days! I can't wait but I'm defo not expecting all five to hatch maybe 1 or 2 or if I'm really lucky 3 but I will just have to wait and see I didn't really expect much for the shipped eggs especially as I only bought 6 but It was a pretty reasonable price £13.50 including shipping so It wasn't too bad. How much did yours cost, Sorry not meaning to be nosey Lol next time I will properly buy some eggs local I am hoping that one of the Light sussex go broody in the future as they are humungous and you can fit like twelve LF eggs under them!

Nosey what you lol no that's ok that's not nosey I paid 14 pounds 75 for the first 8 and 18 pounds for the 12 I have in the incubator
all including shipping yes you are right about the hatch rate I think out of the last 8 I would of had 3 maybe 4 if the power
had not of gone out , also like you I am going to get my next lot of eggs from a place call Canterbury in Kent
which is not to far from me . but hey we may have every egg turn into chicks and want to go to ebay again no
I think its better to get local eggs like you say the is a lot of thing to go wrong with shipped eggs

Hey yes that's true I actually live quite near to Canterbury, Kent not long now I'm so eggcited I am planning on setting about 10-15 eggs for my next hatch I am wanting to incubate some pekin bantam eggs, Cream crested legbars and some more silkies hope fully! Thanks

hi day 17 last time for me tomorrow turning my eggs yesss

its been easy as I made a s/auto turner out of a micro oven motor
so I do not have to open the incubator all I do is switch the switch
and all 12 well 7 now eggs turn ( tilt ) in one moment the only time
I opened it is for water I also made the frame for it to
so hope it all has worked
lockdown I be running around

trying not to touch lol

what sort are you hopeing to hatch next time
will it be this year ?

Oh how eggciting yes lockdown tomorrow how great for your incubator sounds promising.Yes Lol I will properly be looking like a mad women walking up and down listening for peeps I am hoping to be hatching some mixed breed bantams and some more silkies quite soon as I now have a new incubator of which my uncle gave to me which holds around 50 eggs

Hahaha I am looking at setting 12 mixed bantam and either 6-12 silkies from ebay but I am going to see how this hatch goes first but the only problem with the incubator is that it has a french plug so I will have to get an adapter can't wait now not long Thank you yes it's a bit foggy at the mo but hopefully it brightens up a bit
