Hi all I'm a totally newbie so learning as I go along. I'm a bit obsessed with it though my hubby thinks I'm mad 🤣🤣. I bought a second hand polystyrene incubator and have 12 bantam eggs incubating (day 3) I've had a few ups and downs getting the temp / humidity right but just wondering what my chances are of actually hatching anything? 🤣 I do so want it to work.... Turning eggs 4 times a day reading everything I can re incubating. Should I save up for a proper incubator?

I have a Styrofoam incubator that I bought of e bay. This is my second time incubating eggs in it. I didn't get any hatches out of it, but that was because of reasons unrelated to the incubator. The actual incubator has been fine, except for a few problems with the humidity when it was first turned on. After adjusting and settling in, the incubator has been doing well. I would just by a thermometer if you are having problems with the temperature. I have one and both the thermometer and the incubator have been giving me similar temperatures. Hopefully your incubator is working as well :).
PS: It is better to turn your eggs an odd number of times a day so that the egg isn't lying on the same side two nights in a row.

When you can afford it, if you plan to do a lot of hatching, it will be worth having a quality incubator. I have some RComs, they regulate humidity for you and keep the temperature steady without wild temperature changes. :)
