Has anyone used a metal carport to cover their run?

Im considering a 12 X 20 metal carport to cover my run. Has anyone else tried this? If so, I would be interested to see some pics. I would like to see how the enclosure was built around the carport. Im thinking some treated 4 X 4 posts alongside the poles for the carport with some hurricane fence nailed to the post with treated runnerboards on the top and bottom. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a'carport aviary' --As soon as I can figure out how to post pics from Picasa 3 (which is the only thing I have used)

I am going to post Pictures....just gotta learn how....But I have a 10 x20 it had a tarp, but we bought tin roof and roofed it and I then attached 2X2 wire by wrapped the posts with electric fence wire and tying it off. Then I put a36" hardware cloth around the bottom so coons ,etc. couldn't pull my ducks heads out. I put pond rock on floor (but rats can dig under:( And I have a 18" apron outside the pen Of 2x2) Then I have a 4 ft. with hotwire top and bottom and I have hotwire around the aviary and it is in a fenced yard---my night pen fort knox. I used gates for 2 doors.....

Interesting. I would love to see pics. My other idea was to plant 4 x 4s and use galvalume to cover the run. My run will be covered because I live in Louisiana and its flat here and gets muddy when it rains.

I am an avid recycler on the practical side. i used a 10 x 20 carport which had a preexisting wooden fence on one side and surrounded the other three sides with a thrown out covering for a 7 foot chain link fence around a Tennis Court. It's grey in color and the local high school was replacing it so I got the throw away and hung it with plastic draw ties. I then hung wire cages from the 2 x 4 cross beams using old rolled up wire I had saved, it looked about like the wire you use to hang pictures.
I dont have any pictures Im not too good about getting pictures to the internet and all but I can tell you we have had a harsh winter, lowest was 9 degrees and several days in the teens and my chcickens haven't suffered at all. We change the water twice a day when it freezes and feed twice a day and thats it. I think it'll work for you!

I put up a carport for my horses. I got it with sides but the back of it we put up a wall and made a dutch door. The front is open right now but eventually I will put a wall up with a sliding door. My chickens seem to like it in there. Maybe because they help my horse eat his feed and they do like the seeds from the hay bales.

You wouldn't have to dig holes for poles on the side of the carport since it has metal supports. You can either drill into that or use something like cable ties to attach the fencing. On the front and back you would most likely have to put poles in. Don't forget to make a door!
