Has anyone used a Rabbit Water Bottle?

I use them for my adult birds overnight in the coop and have used them for about a year with no problems. During the day i put out a small dish. They use it fine but only one can use it at a time so you have to be very careful making sure they are all getting water and even put up several.

we used thin wire and screwed it into the wood on both ends and hang the waterer from it.

Our first flock is now 1wk and 3wks old and can't believe all of the pine and poo in the water dish! We were changing it 4 times a day. While at PetSmart I picked up a nice rabbit/guinea pig water bottle that hangs inside the cage. I left the old water dish inside the cage and put up the new water bottle. The chicks instantly started using it and barely touch the water dish which is always dirty. The hubs is worried they aren't getting enough water with the bottle, or that they are hurting their beaks, so the dish is staying in for a little. He's a worry wart.

The chicks are happy and the 4 younger girls are starting to attempt roosting with the 2 older girls. I think the poopy water dish will be out of the brooder soon.

Chicken Nipple Waterers!!!

That is what I use... no leaking and the birds love it!! Best of all...no dirty water! Much nicer I think from the rabbit waterers...no drips.

Took them about 5-15 mins to learn to use it, but I have not had soggy bedding or any issues since we installed it. They have been using it about a year now.

Although I haven't tried a regular waterer, I have to agree that the nipple waterers are super. I ordered them from a fellow BYC-er before I got my chicks and started them on the nipple and not a regular waterer. After hearing about how dirty chickens normally get their waterers, it seems like a great system.

Yes, and it works like a charm for chicks. For our older girls we switched to a waterer that hooks up to our hose and auto-fills when the water gets low, but I'll stick to rabbit water bottles for chicks. No more cleaning out the water 20 times a day!

I'm going to try the rabbit waterer too. I am so sick of cleaning poop and shavings out of the water. Plus, I end up wasting a lot water because it gets so dirty. I tried putting it up on a 2 by 4 and it helped a little but
not enough. Still have to change the water three times a day. I'll let you know how it works out. Id love hearing form others how it works for them too and if there's any little tricks to getting them to use it. Just sent hubby out to get one.

Thanks

Have you had much luck with this?
I have done the same thing and my girls are still filling it up with shavings. I even tried to put paper towels just around the water and food area to keep teh water clean and it doesn't work.
