Has Back Yard Chickens Emergencies forum saved your chicken's life?

Definitely YES, the awesome folks on BYC (and beyond, thank you Dr Brown!) have been a tremendous help when one of my girls fell ill about 10 days ago. Had I not followed all the advice, she would probably not have lasted much longer - she's on the mend now, crossing fingers for a full recovery!

Beyond the shadow of a doubt, BYC's forum has saved more than one of my birds - the latest being little White Annie from an impacted crop. Chickensioux came over and performed surgery on her. My DH and I assisted. We did just as we all had learned how to do from others right here on this forum. Little White Annie is in a cage right here next to me and doing just fine.

I can't begin to mention all those who have given me advice and help with everything from external and internal parasites to "wasting disease" to injuries to how to deal with predators, etc. BYC's forum is awesome to me.

But the greatest help of all was for myself. Just a couple of weeks ago I was so discouraged that I was ready to find homes for all my birds. I felt like the WORST bird caregiver in the world. BYC'ers sprang to my rescue in no time at all (the first response to my post came in 4 minutes). Everyone was sooooooo encouraging. I can't thank everyone enough for that. I'm back on my feet and things are going well.

So, yes, there is no doubt in my mind that BYC's forum has saved the lives of many, many birds and other creatures as well, and the sanity of many other BYC'ers.

What does a dislocated knee look like? My mother has a bantam hen that had a chick stolen by a predator in the night and she has limped ever since. (months) Maybe it is dislocated.

Oh yes, BYC saved my chicken! Here is the thread ...

I have learned sooooo much from all the BYC'ers. New to chickens, I had so many questions. Now, I am even able to answer a few questions.

I learned how to fix splay leg, and learned to worm chickens twice a year. I learned about DE, and organic apple cider vinegar (ACV). I could go on and on and on! Without BYC I would never have even known the importance of ventilation in the coop! Oh yea, I have learned tons here!

I would say yes! I had two hens attacked by miniature pinschers (strays!

) and one was already weak from a hard molt. BYC was a great help!! I also had another hen get a bad case of sour crop and, again, BYC members were very helpful!!!
