So 22nd afternoon I see a pip. On the 23rd after 4 out of 7 chicks hatched. Now all the chicks are out. One egg has pipped and is very exited. But it hasn’t really made progress like the others did. It pipped like 5 hours ago. I think it’s taking a nap. Anyway, I’ve opened the incubator for like 5 seconds since it pipped. Do I need to worry? I’m worried because it’s kinda late and it isn’t as fast as the others were.

That happened to me today! I posted because I used vitamin e from one of my vitamins to moisten it. Not sure if it’s ok or not but it worked like a charm.

Vitamin E is a great thing to have on hand for chickens. Also you can use coconut oil for moistening membranes.

What I am really concerned about is that it is really loud and alive but it’s not making progress. It hasn’t started to zip.

I suggest leaving it be. I've had chicks start to hatch the evening before and be freshly hatched and still really wet in the morning when I went to the coop to check on them (I always use a hen for hatching).

I’m just hoping there just waiting to hatch. The chick just keeps poking the hole. Is it stuck? Is it waiting? I think these are the eggs I put a day later in the week incubator. What are your opinions?

Also is it fine if I open the incubator to move the hydrometer so I can see it?
