Nice we might get a few Turkeys so we can have them for Nov Do we have to keep them caged??

That depends on your situation. I have a bourbon red Tom and a black hen and they roam free with the chickens, ducks and lone goose...but I'm in an area where they can do that safely and have enough space that they don't feel "crowded".

I run mine with my chickens. I also hatch chickens with them so they learn how to eat and survive. Turkeys are dumb. They will find ways to die.... lol

I will be setting some mixed chicken eggs in the next 9 days! Don't know when yet, still cleaning my incubator from my first hatch last week ! I'm addicted now too!!! I had a 50% hatch rate which I've been told was good for a first try?

When we had the weird December thaw and my poultry-yard flooded I found my silkies and nankins using the dead turkeys, full-grown turkeys, as life rafts. Was 6 inches deep and these stupid adult turkeys drowned. lol

Neat. I will be running my bators nonstop until the husband tells me I have to stop. Currently having to use shipped eggs so if I get 50% hatch rate I will be absolutely amazed.

Welcome to the group! our number one goal is to support you in all your hatching endeavors!
50% is quite good for a first time..and not uncommon for a 2nd or 3rd or..you get the idea.

It's a duck conspiracy! All ten of my hens are hiding theirs..I think someone told them I have the bators up and running..
