I ordered some hatching eggs to arrive next week. I plan to let them sit for 24 to 48 hours before putting them in the incubator. Nothing super special, just a barnyard mix to test my incubators out.
The plan is to order more eggs at the end of the month to arrive in time to set them either right at lockdown or right after the hatch.

Yes, I am a hatching addict. Anybody else planning to set eggs next week? Anybody want to keep me company and keep me off eBay? lol

Are eggs cheaper to irder than chicks? Is it more work? I was thinking of getting a mini n just trying it

I have way to many cats... All sweet an cuddly...only they are supposed to be barn cats. They discover the dog door and the wood stove and it's bye bye barn hello luxury..

They likes the warm.... I have 10 outside cats that want in the warm. Told them they needed to use the litter box, not the floor, the desk, the laundry....

what's the ground clearance? I have a 10 yr old the size of a 5 yr old. lol

My almost 5 yr old grandson can't get under either...

I have 15 counting the new ones and a red Persian rag doll momma due to drop any day. Dad is a black maine coon ragdoll...

Oh I understand that! At one time we had 15 cats, but my favorite went missing, we found him weeks later and since then he's living luxury nights in the heated garage while everyone else gets the hay barn! Our nice ones always leave and the mean ones camp here permanently. They were all strays except for one I adopted. I'm a sucker for cats, I cant bear to rehome even the mean ones!

Eggs are a risk. You can order 20 eggs and get none to hatch, 20 to hatch or any number in between. It also gives you a chance to get some new blood in the flock.

Shipped eggs are a big gamble. There are people that are selling hatching eggs they purchased elsewhere. Some people relist the eggs they get in an auction. I have gotten eggs that were not fertile and the seller found out her rooster was not doing his job.

For me, I know the risks and the husband lets me have a certain amount to try new sources for eggs. I also have a list of sellers I trust and will buy from all the time.
