Hatch Along March 1st

They are all Dominiques, from my own flock. This is the first hatch from this particular roo, and his fertility was disappointing. I set 24 eggs and only 9 were fertile. But all nine are still in the incubator, so cross your fingers and most of them may hatch! I just set another 24 from that roo today, we'll see if his fertility has improved at all of if he's really shooting mostly blanks, heh.

Whew 22 are out! But I left the house last night and wasn't able to get back till about an hour ago and saw that 2 died after zipping

I've never had that happen. It almost looks like they may have been shrinkwrapped or they suffocated. I feel so guilty. If I had been here maybe I could have helped them. But there is one more still trying to hatch. I chipped some shell away to give it a better breathing spot but am leaving it at the moment to see if it attempts to zip because I thought I saw some blood. I've never had one hatch quite this late, granted its only the day after hatch day but still, I'm glad it's alive so I'm hoping to have 23 soon But the 22 that hatched are looking good! Eating already and pooping their weird green poop they always have after hatch lol

I shrink wrapped one yesterday

I just read something about putting olive oil on the membrane to keep it from drying out. I wish I would have read it 36 hours ago. 22 is great though!

Gah! 6 out of the 9 have now pipped, but no one has hatched yet. Oh, the waiting!

Of course they wait until it's almost bedtime, heh ...

7 out of 12 hatched. Looks like I got 2 roosters out of the bunch.

Lots of wiggling here, no pipping yet.....how long after wiggling do i ahve to wait!!! I know its only day 19 but Im going crazy here!!!!!!!!

I had to slowly peel the last one out, It was stuck in there good and one of it's feet still looks smooshed from being in the egg to long I suppose. But it's alive and with the others now

So that makes 23!
