Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

Okay everybody we need some quick help!! So today is day 18 we were planning on going into lockdown tonight or tomorrow morning...but this morning my mom came into my room and told me she heard a peep, and maybe a wobble? So i went in and was watching and listening...and heard a peep. SHould we go into lockdown? We could be just hearing things we aren't 100% but we don't want to mess this up!

If you heard a peep, that chick has internally pipped. You should probably go ahead into lockdown and get your humidity up before the chick externally pips.

Ok but what if we were just hearing things...would it harm the eggs if we went into lockdown a little early just to be on the safe side?
If it were me Id go into lockdown. I doubt your just hearing things it probably has internally pipped. Id stop turning and get humidity up also. Good luck.

edited to add that no it wont harm the eggs to go into lockdown a tiny bit early

A day erly wont hurt anything but not hav eing the right humidity and all if the chick pips can so just go into lockdown and let the waiting for fluffy butts begin

thank you! I just don't want anything to happen and i would feel awful if we ended up hurting our chicks by not getting the humidity up in time! ahhhh so exciting!! we didn't have much hope for these because they are dark and hard to candle so we didn't know what was going on! but this has given us a little more hope for them!

I came from lunch to find a PIP!
I wonder which kind of Maran it is? I wish the farmer had labeled them. I have lots of wobblers now!

Going into lockdown a little early is totally fine. I've taken eggs into lockdown 3 days early when doing staggered hatches with no problems at all.
