Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

Wow! It looks like we are going to have some great pictures as we go along. I'm just using a flashlight to try to candle with so I'm sure I won't be trying to juggle a flashlight egg and phone cam. Thanks for the picture Kunjun, that gives me a good idea of what I'm looking for at day 7. I couldn't see the air cell when I put them in, but possibly I'll be able to see more at day 7. For me, it's only day 1. I hear you don't actually count the first day they're in the incubator.

I'm glad somebody else is hatching with the Little Giant too! This is our first time ever incubating eggs. I am worried about using this incubator. The temp really seems to fluctuate based on the temp in the room. I have been waiting until tonight to set my eggs to try to make sure the temperature has been stable for awhile. A couple people on here recommended that I look at ChookChicks incubation cheat sheet, it has given me a lot of good ideas. It will be fun to compare notes during this hatch-a-long :). We are big time beginners here. How have your hatch rates been with your LG LovMyRoo?

We are using this one too! We got our temps to steady at 100. The problem we are having is the humidity is fluctuating from 33% to 38% I hope this isn't going to cause problems...

Can't wait for our marans to hatch! I have a better feeling about these eggs... Our last time incubating we had 6 bantam easter eggers and we used a homemade incubator... The problem we had was to much fluctuation going on... I think our new LG will do better! It's end of day 1 and it's run at 100 degrees and 37% humidity the whole day without making any adjustments!

Yay thats awesome!! And I so wish I could get my hands on some marans eggs.

My bator was at 102 in the water baggie this morning grrr. Yet all day yesterday the temp was just under 100. Maybe I will just uncover the bator at night. I have a feeling there might be a kitty sleeping on top of the window part too lol.

Last night and this morning our humidity had been jumpy... :(

That kind of fluctuation in humidity is nothing to worry about. I don't worry about mine for the first 18 days unless it drops below 30% or goes above 50%.
