. Im hoping for the best and I will lock down some time tomorrow. I will keep you all posted .
Put everything in lockdown unless it's stinky or leaking. Sometimes they surprise you.

. Most of them look like they quit developing a week ago. I can see light in the bottom of most the eggs and the top looks veiny and very dark and cloudy, is the only way I can think to describe it.

I was wondering if anyone else is going to be keeping their eggs in egg cartons for lockdown. I think I want to But was wondering if it should be a styrofoam carton or is the cardboard kind ok also? I know they should be cut down and holes cut in the bottoms for air circulation. Any other suggestions or tips for hatching in cartons?
I heard that it is better to us styrofoam cartons vs. the cardboard ones. The cardboard ones can absorb moisture and make it difficult to get an accurate humidity reading on your hygrometer. The styrofoam ones are supposed to be more sanitary too.

Thanks Thats what I was thinking too. I think though after reading what I can find here on BYC people seem to be 50/50 on egg cartons vs laying them down. I think im just going to go the natural way and lay them on their sides and hope for the best.

Now that lock down is here everyone if you could tell us what you decided whether laying eggs on their side or put them upright in egg cartons. Also what humidity did you decide etc. I wanna here about all the details, all the pips and peeps and zips and all the pics after hatch. We want all the details so try to share with us if you find time. Im very excited to see everones fuzzy little babies and all the results. Good luck everyone and good hatching vibes to all.
I am going to put mine in styrofoam cartons. My hatch is staggered and I didn't want the chicks to get stuck in the turner! This is my first time incubating and I am using an LG, so I guess we will just wait and see. I think I am going to try to use the sponge in a bowl of water method to bring up the humidity, so that I can remove all the water and lower humidity immediately.

Mine are in lockdown, on day 19. I'm hoping to see a few eggs rocking tonight, but it may be another day or 2. I always put the eggs on their sides. I like being able to see them rock back and forth, and sometimes, rarely, eggs can pip on the bottom, which you can't see when they're in cartons. The ones that pip on the bottom frequently need a little help.

Has anyone ever had a double yolk in a duck egg develop??

One of my duck eggs, Egg A which initially I thought was unfertile, then I moved it from the farthest corner to closest spot under the light and it started to develop, but on day 7 candle it looked to me like there were 2 dark black spots moving, and now on day 17 candle it looks to me like there are 2 separate dark blobs moving not in unison. DH thought is was just diff. parts of the same chick, but to me it really looks like 2 separate things in there, esp. compared to the 5 other duck eggs. I know twin chicks almost never make it, but I also watched a couple videos of assisting a double yolk/ twin chicken to hatch in the NYDH thread. But this is DUCKs...and I'm not sure if I'm seeing twins even, it just looks odd & always like 2 things not one...any advice?

otherwise all the air cells are increasing, the dark chicken eggs are too dark to see any detail although some appeared shadowy, like poss movement -- those are due SAT , lock down today. & the one chicken egg due a wk later w/ the ducks is developing : )

Things are getting interesting, hatching pictures will soon fill this thread...good luck to everyone & all those little hatchers! (& our thread mascot the broody hen Gracie esp.)

He looks good. Six more hatched I probly put them in a day early i added didfrent eggs with didfrent hatch days at different times so they would hatch together I could have been. Off. So far minis with egg I took from her and the cot s hatched but no signs from the four that were due yesterday go figure lol
