Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

Came home tonight to all 6 of the chicks in the incubator running around in circles..

Breakdown of what I had in there.

Started off with 5 shipped Marans eggs off eBay and 2 of my own eggs.

Culled #3 because it wasn't developing about a week ago.

Left with 6.

All 6 are hatched.

I did not stall the turner at all when I put them in, waited about 8 hours until I put them in the incubator from shipping. I'd say I'm pleased with my results.

So it's day 21 here, and of course I'm working a 12 hour night shift. Last night, I saw what I thought was a pip, but after looking at your pics now I'm not so sure. It is a perfect little rectangle the width of a pencil lead and maybe 1/8 in long... no outward pushing. I hear no chirping or cheeping, and I'm hoping (praying) that when I get home tomorrow something will have happened..

On another note... We're Pregnant! WOOOHOOO Really really surprising but not unpleasant news. So in order to keep my sanity for the next 8 months, I'm going to need at least one chick to hatch, so I don't feel like a total and complete failure... please???

Aww. I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe it's just resting? I had one that zipped most of the way around yesterday, then stopped, and died inexplicably. My daughter was really sad. Hatching can be as heartbreaking as it is exciting. I hope you wake up to lots of chicks though!

Wow! That's wonderful news! Congratulations!

No peeps, pips, egg roll, shake, shutter, cheep, chirp, so I'm going to bed. Good luck on yours (and everyone else,s)

Okay, so I lied, one more post for the night! Chick #3 just hatched about 15 minutes ago- still no movement from my other one, I think I can see the tip of his beak under the wing, but again no signs of breathing :( I'm going to try to upload one of the chicks hatching if I can get the laptop and cell to play nice together!

One last question - the chicks have knocked the crap out of my thermometer and now its reading roughly 5 degrees lower than the 99.5 it was at when it was still sitting on top of the eggs due to hatch next weekend. Is this normal, or do I need to worry about this lower reading (sometimes the chicks are sitting on it so I really don't have too much faith in it being overly accurate at this point, but I have another 6 or 7 eggs that have pipped so I don't want anyone getting cold but don't want to really make any temperature adjustments at this point either.

Congrats to everyone who has new peeps, and sending lots of good energy and power of patience to those still waiting. I have a pip in one of my two little Serama eggs! Mine are from a young pair I hatched in July, so these are special...my first "homebred" chicks and the first to make it this far for their parents :D Go little peep!!!

I have one of 6 that's hatched. Two others have pipped (about 10 hours ago) and have done next to nothing since. 3 others are just sitting there staring at me. (sigh)....I hate waiting.
