Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

Well obie, the chick that was clicking when breathing, seems to be doing a lot better tonight...no more clicking so I guess it was just from the humidity in the bator. She is still dealing with the splayed eggs but after having her bandages for about 12 hours now she seems to be stronger on her legs and is finally used to having them bandaged up. She's eating great and seems to have more energy. So hopefully she will only get better

My broody hatch a chick!!! I saw the pipped egg last night on day 19 and this morning there's a fully baby!!! Fingers crossed the others follow quickly!!

My power came back on about 4 hrs later and I'm so worried the temp drop and extremely high humidity might have screwed my bator hatch :( today is day 20 and nothing happening yet, so just going to cross my fingers, wait, watch, and hope for the best.

Come on little babies....please!!

Ticks already :(

Yesterday DH did repairs to a large grow out pen,
2 yrs ago I lost some birds to a weasel so I put a couple feeder pigs in the pen which I'm sure got rid of the weasel issue,
but ended up putting a few holes in the fence which are now repaired. Meanwhile I put in 30ft of potato starts.
But last night I got woken up repeatedly - found 4 ticks crawling around on me , YUCK.

I got 4 Guineas 10 days ago, & they are getting used to their new location & I can't get them out on tick patrol fast enough!
Last winter was so mild we were completely over run by ticks, looks like this year is the same so far.
The only silver lining it is this calls for MORE birds, I simply don't have enough birds to cover all 30 acres, yet.

oops sorry posted to the wrong thread.

So on hatching news, I have eggs worked out to set the 15th, & got 2 more yesterday from the Buckeyes,
so although the early ones will be a little old, I'm not up to 6 total from them & counting.

OK folks...
Many of our chicks are nearly 2 wks old now...

how 'bout some updated pics???

Ours are still going strong, we've been incredibly lucky with them.... Mindy is totally in love with all the new ones, and they are starting to check her over more and more each day (they think the fluffy fur on her paws must be hiding food, they jump on her paws and start scratching!)

Mindy watching over the little ones snack time.... 5 days old
today, 13 days old... can really see the difference between the Australorps and Barred Rocks
'jockeying' for position! LOL
Sorry, but there is a 3 chick per wing limit!
So if there's no more room at the wing... then go to the chest! LOL

Does anybody on here give their baby chicks scrambled eggs or mashed up hard boiled eggs?? ANd if you do how old do you start giving them it??

Here are updated pics of my chicks. We hatched 8 but only kept 2 for our flock. The EE/OE I kept im now slighty regreting as one is crossbeaked and one came from the same egg color in the batch so she may be a carrier. I wont be able to breed them *SIGH* I was planning on putting them in with my breeding flock with the Marans Rooster to hopefully increase their egg to a darker shade. But here are my 2 super cute chicks along with the 2 new additions, silkie chicks

Group shot

EE/OE Peaches who unfortunately is cross beaked

EE/OE right now called Mask

and the newly added additions 2 silkies
Prim
