Really really pleased your little one survived. I feel giult actually when I don't help. One time I heard cherping for three days and didn;t help and although the chick pipped it didn;t zip or hatch but died of exhaustion in the shell. It looked pretty healthy my issue was the humidity level it was a shrink wrap. So don;t feel bad ever about helping I would rather do that than wait for them to die needlessly. Both of our interventions lived and grew into big old bad rooster boys.
Yes it is a great mirricle that something we crack into a pan and put with bacon can turn into one of those beautiful little fluffy balls of cuteness!!!!!
I have one hen that was hatched from a full size egg and she is very very small. Though she is not supposed to be a banty she lays very tiny wee poop eggs! Now after being here for 18months I don;t think she will ever grow to be a full sized hen. Sometimes this happens like with us humans someone can be 6"7 while another can be 4"8 - I guess it is the same for chickens.
Anyhow glad it all worked out.
