Hatch complete, PICS page 5

I should do something to keep my mind occupied, retail therapy usually helps. I'm sitting around worrying about chicks hatching, worrying about my lavender bantam ameraucanas arriving in the mail. I need to get another hobby.

Sara and Katy, I'm down with going shopping. Get me outta here! I have Speckledhen's eggs in my Brinsea, they hit day 20 this morning about 6am. Nothing.

Yes, I know it's early, but once I hit this stage in hatching, I get very impatient. I'm just dying to see some activity, peeping, a little rocking, anything. I know those little chicks are just giving me a hard time. They are in their conspiring..."Ok, are we all in agreement? We are going to make her wait til at least day 21 before any pipping." And Sara, lavender bantam ameraucanas? Well, just put me on your next spring list for eggs right now!

They sound gorgeous.

It's a chicken explosion!! Sherriekim.....I do ok too until the last couple of days. Up until then I check temps and humidity twice a day and that's it, but once they go in the hatcher it's hard to ignore them....no matter how many times I've done it!!!

I've got 5 pips now. Still nothing from the other Araucanas tho.

Sherrikim~ We are going to have little speckledhen brothers and sisters. My first one pipped and hatched yesterday on day 20, 2 working on it today, but no other pips. I can hear them moving around, so maybe they are just slow babies.

As for the lavender bantams, I am so excited about them. They are on there way here. i have never had a chicken shipped so I am freaking out with worry.

I have decided I will NOT check the hatcher again until this afternoon when I put Travis down for his nap. My head can not take one more hit when I try to lean under the table and look in.

I've never had chickens shipped, but several years ago I had some call ducks shipped and they did fine. Even the ones that got lost and took two extra days to get here!

I betcha you'll check your eggs before nap time!! Of course I guess it's an hour later where you are so afternoon nap time is closer!!!

sara, it is ok to ship the birds IF you don't panic..

No matter what the post office tells you... it may take two days or more. Expect them later than sooner and you will be ok. I have received birds and was promised 24 hrs by the p.o. but it didn't happen and then no one seemed to know where they were but they showed up here healthy and well. It was my first time and I really was in a state!! But we want to see pics of them after they arrive. sounds like spring is happening around here..byc site...doesn't it? I cannot wait for my eggs to get here!!

Thanks for your votes of confidence on the shipped birds. I've only ever gotten day old chicks once and well they don't need food or water. I worry about these girls if it takes too long since they are grown.

So far I didn't check the hatcher, but who knows if i can make it 2 1/2 more hours.
