I have a giant Cochin that has been sitting on eggs since the 21st. She is in a nest box that is approx 3 feet off the ground. This is my first time letting a hen sit on eggs.
I probably should’ve moved her to a different area closer to the ground awhile ago.
I obviously didn’t think about this until after she had been sitting for several days. 😬
I am able to move her to her own smaller coop now if you all think I should. I’m afraid if I wait until they hatch, they’ll start falling out of the box.
Im afraid if I move her now, she’ll be confused and stop sitting on the eggs. And I’m really not interested in pulling out the incubator...
Suggestions, please 🙏🏼

Initially they will not come out from under their mother so I would wait until they have hatched before moving them, even if you raise the front edge with a bit of cardboard taped into place. It depends on the rest of your flock as to whether she'll be ok raising them alongside everyone else. We recently had a little bantam hatch 3 chicks and I did put her in a dog crate for a few days so that everyone could get used to the idea of having little ones around. Since then I've been leaving the crate door open for them (the chicks can squeeze through the bars anyway) and they come and go as they please.
