Seeing baby chicks hatched is something I haven't experienced yet but we're looking forward for it next week hopefully!

Hey folks! The 17th is hatch day for a batch of eggs that actually belong to a friend for me. I have six under two broodies (3 each), and 4 in an incubator. It's a long story.......

I just put the ones under the broodies on Saturday when it was evident that not one of the eggs I originally put under them that were due out Saturday are going to hatch. I had already candled and knew they likely wouldn't, but I left them just in case. So I stuck the a few of my friend's eggs that had been in the incubator under them just so SOMETHING would hatch for the poor girls.

Fingers crossed - this is my first time hatching with an incubator and second time with broodies. I keep staring into the little windows to see if the eggs will wiggle. I think I'm going to call out sick tomorrow....

I kinda want to make sure the broodies (both new to being Mamas) don't hurt the new chicks, especially since they aren't even mine.....

Hang in there, Paintedhorsegirl! It's not over yet. Last month I had eggs under a hen wait until day 24 to hatch, which is totally insane and I don't know how the little scamps survived. But it does mean that your kids are not yet out of the running.

I saw a foot and some fuzz under my broody. It was trying to come out from underneath her and she shoved it back under her

I want to see the baby(ies)!!! I think I hear a few muffled peeps as well. This is so amazing. I wish I could put a webcam underneath her and watch the action!!
