Oh how exciting I am same I have 6 due on Friday and my first time also and they are also under my brooder, I am prepared to just be on hand and watch and hope no problems and mother hen will know what to do,but I am so excited, will be pacing the floor:)

It is the end of day 21 now, day 22 began at 6pm. How much longer to I leave the other 5 eggs to see if any of them hatch?

Im not sure how long you should leave them from personal experience but I did read some eggs take an xtra couple days.
Day 21 for me started this afternoon so Im going to give my eggs until late thursday, I think...Im really hoping they will hatch before then and it wont be an issue but ya never know...

Random thought here but do you leave a light on for your chicks at night so when they hatch they can see or do you let them hatch in the dark?

mine are really staggering their hatch. i had one hatch yesterday early and then two overnight and one today. there are 2 more zipping and 3 more pips. paintedhorsegirl anything else happening? any pips??

Still No visible pips..It has now been 7 1/2 hrs sense the first one hatched..Im going to go to sleep for a few hours and then get upi to check again..i really hope I find another soon. I feel bad for the lone chick

snazzyboots Im glad Im not the only one with a staggered hatch... hopefully all will be here soon.
Do you have anymore pics yet?

HELP!!! I'm on day 23 - no pips, no zips - so started checking my eggs and egg-topsying them. NONE (out of 8 checked) were fertile at all, so I suspected they'd all be duds...until i delicately opened the bottom of #9...to see the membrane inside MOVING!! Note that I tried candling them, but they're dark and somewhat difficult to see through. I didn't breach the inner membrane. The chick looked fairly complete through the membrane from what I could tell.

I put the egg/chick back into the bator and CRANKED up the humidity, but is there anything else I can do (other than feel like an impatient newbie a-hole?)? Should I leave it be for now? Anything else???!?

I moved the chicken and quail eggs to the hatcher today, along with 1 duck egg. That egg was 'gathered' from a nest that is being sat on by a mean old broody Rouen duck, and it's pushing on the membrane

So that means mama's eggs should soon hatch and I'll (hopefully) have my first duck mama running around the yard with babies

She hatched some ducklings last year but we had rats so bad that she lost them all

At least one of the serama eggs was pipped when I moved them...on day 19...as usual....
