Hatch date of April 17th! Anybody with me?

Ok, so here are my 6 babies, still 3 eggs in that bator, 2 of which I think I saw movement in. Also I received 5 Goose eggs in the mail today, one was broken, so I have 3 to set!

And the goose eggs.

Lucky you Kelsey! Sundown's gosling pics are killing me with cuteness. I'd really love to hatch some geese but they sound pretty tricky and DH would probably be pushed over the edge (he's pretty close as it is LOL)

I'm so ready to see one of them!!!

newlyweds...I was like you going crazy.....especially when I was hearing about everyone else having pips and hatches left and right. It will happen!!! Just when you least expect it!!

I dunno what's worse...the waiting for something to actually start...or waiting for them to get out of that shell!!!

I have not gotten a thing accomplished as far as cleaning or anything today.

Had my face staring at eggs all day.

I ended up with 31 beautiful b/b/s Ameraucanas - 86% hatch rate.

Last time (my first hatch) i hatched them in egg cartons. This time I tried hatching just on the mesh floor of the incubator. I think all the early hatchers smothered the late hatchers by laying on the eggs. Two of the eggs got cracked, chicks pecked at them, and the immature chicks inside died. The others died at some point late in the game without even pipping - I didn't have a chance to examine them yet today. Will do it tomorrow.

I'm thrilled with the chicks I've got!

Thanks this is so encouraging, I am hoping and praying for some pips tonight or at least when I wake up. I know I will be like you and up several times tonight.

I got baby chicks!!!!!

Had one hatch about 9:30 last night....stayed up forever waiting to see the others work their way out, and ended up going to bed only to wake up 2 hrs later to 5 baby silkies.

I still have 4 eggs that have not pipped or anything.....so gonna wait and see if those hatch or not. All eggs were good when I went into lockdown....so they may just be a little slower. If not, I'm pretty happy with 5 out of 9 hatching. Considering I paid for 7....got 2 freebies, and this is my very first time ever doing this.

I am concerned about getting the other ones out if I can today. But don't want to disturb the other eggs any worse than the chicks already have. I know the rolling around is not that bad....but I noticed one of them pecking on one of the unhatched eggs. I haven't moved them or anything yet. Would it be OK if I took the incubator into a steamed up bathroom so the humidity doesn't drop to much and take the other chicks out? They are all dry. Not sure what to do!!!

Now, I know that this is a major no-no (but I have a brinsea eco 20, which controls/regains temps & humidity nearly immediately after I open the cover) but I open and take out chicks during the hatch

I can't help myself, i've tried so many times to resist but to no avail. I don't know what kind of incubator you have, and whether or not it is advisable with a styrofoam or homemade bator... Hopefully someone else will chime in with their two cents...

congrats again on the babies
