I have 6 eggs left in the bator...one I believe is a dud, 21 days was Thrusday and no pip or anything. I could have sworn it was rocking on Friday but it hasn't moved sense. Out of 13 though it's still a nail biter because we've had to help two, but they've made it out.

Sorry to hear about your eggs chicks4kids, I have had 3 pip today and 2 of them are hatched just thought I would check in to see how all was going for you all!

Well our hatch finished up last night with the help of us (the poor chick was to big for the egg) we had a wonderful hatch this time around 12 out of 13. Though some of ours got stuck so we still have lots of improving to do. Our neighbor only had 6 out of like 20 some (with our old incubator). Good luck with the rest of your hatches guys!

Fantastic news about the hatching!! It must be wonderful to watch! I think watching them go from wet to poofy would be just the cutest thing

Rachelj07-when you say some of yours got stuck and you've got improving to do, what do you mean? Is that some sign of incubator fluctuation or something? I only ask this because now my hubby is trying to convince me to build or buy an incubator. And I hear about alot of flucs. in temp and humidity--just wondering if this is one of those side effects of that??

As for my hatch, I tried to slip some chicks under Cheeks but that was a no go. She knew they weren't hers. So out to the coop with the rest of the chickens she has went. She has been put out in population and seems to be just fine with it. And the 6 chicks that I bought for her are now in the house and everyone loves them! So everything turned out just fine

Chicks4Kids-It has to do with us not having the humidity correct. I believe our humidity was to low in the beginning. Which is just a simple step of adding more water next time. Having the incubator is probable the best for us, we love watching the chicks hatch and my two year old son knows that eggs crack and chicks come out of them (he's so cute when he talks all excited about this). The incubator we got the temp was pre-set by the manufactor so it's just the humidity we have to get right, which still 12 out of 13 for hatching, this being only the second time we've ever hatched, is pretty good! I would go with the incubator, because then you have more control over the setting and everything.
