Hatch day and I ned one older one identified please.

I have yet to introduce it to the Bob White's. Been a bit busy. I'm thinking i'll wait till they've laid their eggs for today to not stress them. Try it in both pens and see what happens. I may just leave her with one of these Manchuren roos and see what I get if it doesnt work out with the BW's. I'm thinking it's a hen but not sure. I have 2 Manchuren's left that haven't grown enough for processing that this odd one is in with.

It's strange how there are mixed breed quail but I can't seem to get mine to get along. lol

It looks to me like a Bobwhite, classic bobwhite lines. If you ignore the coloring, it looks the same to me. Maybe it is a mutant, or has some lighter colored genes. I have to look at that again.

This is certainly a strange looking bobwhite!! That beak looks like a hawk!! I guess if a guinea will mate with a chicken and a silkie with a pheasant, a hawk could flip out and mate with a bobwhite!!!

Why would you process it or let it go? It is a female isn't it? Why not preserve the classic lines rather than throw it out

It's like the wild and Jumbo wild coturnix. They are the same but one is larger BUT the wild is the original lines making it more precious to me so I am standing by them.

The English Coturnix and Texas A and M is another example....

I understand about bigger size meaning more yumminess and more eat, right? I may be just going on by my geneticist standpoint. I think it's cool when you can create new things but I also appreciate the original ones too...OK I am going crazy again

The only quail I have that I haven't tried it with are the Bob Whites. The others went after it like it was an enemy. I'll go and give it a shot now. The BW's I have have been breeders all year and I don't know if they will accept a new commer. I'll see though. I'll go now and try it. The dogs want out anyway.

Well, it worked. When I first put it in there they all moved like Sloths. SSOOOOOOO SSSSSLOOOOOWWWWW. then after a little bit they started acting normal. When I came in they where still checking her out but no violence. The male even did a dance for her. I also got a surprise from my jumbo cortunix. There where 2 eggs in the cage. and I got 1 from the Manchuren today. Their first eggs. They all aren't the same ages but close so i'll be seeing more soon. Thank goodness.

So now I just have 2 manchuren boys waiting in death row. Thanks to you all the oddball has been saved.
