Wow you really are trying I do love the Buffs too! I have a mix of colors in the large hatch of 13 black, white, partridge,buff,splash,blue the friendliest were the buff they were the ons that came running to my hand. My single chick is a Sundown so I have a total of 4 buffs, good luck with the future hatches let me know how they turn out. How will you integrate them or are you going to keep the hatches separate. I don't know what I will do later I hope I will be able to add the buff to the group when it gets bigger it is so small at only a week old. The others look like monsters next to her. It is almost time for them to move to the great outdoors.

wow, lots of great colors! where did you get your eggs? I think I should probably band them as to where they came from. I have Sundown and Kelar eggs and Im hoping for good breeders from these to cross.
All I need is a few to get started...

My first 13 are Kelar eggs it's funny that the eggs that traveled the farthest had the better hatch rate. I thought I would have better luck with eggs that are traveling the shortest distance but they went from New York which is a neighboring state to New Jersey only to cross back into New York to be delivered to Connecticut. Go figure

I am finished hatching for this year I have cleaned and disinfected the incubators and packed them away.
How many chickens do you have total are these your first? I have four hens plus these babies I will be building them a house soon

well as soon as the town issues the building permit.
There is nothing cuter than a chick have you been taking pictures of your babies I have they grow so fast.

I have total 14 silkies all under a year, then around 30 or so layers but some are for sale and some are still chicks, plus a pen of roosters. And my sons 15 ducks and soon Toulouse geese! I had a few layers growing up, and I just like having them! This is my first year really to get anything other than PQ silkies though, it will be 6 silkie hatches by the end of June! I hope this is my last too...gets too hot here and I dont know if they will survive the PO. Hope you get your permit soon, that is annoying! I need to take pics, maybe next week...

Wow you do have a lot of poultry it must take you hours to care for them all in the morning. These are my first Silkies I have had layers for several years no roosters except what may be in the silkie batch. I was not allowed to have poultry where we lived before and they were the first things I got when we moved to this house. My husband is even warming up to them.

Today is Day 19 for my 14 BCM eggs. My bator is on the "Older" side so I have to open the lid to add water if humidity drops. Is this ok at day 19? I really am trying to do everything perfect so that all 14 will hatch. Just very nervous I guess!

Once opened it can take hours to stabilize again and you don't want to open it if any of the eggs have pipped which sometimes is hard to see when they first start. We are all nervous I think when we reach lockdown and even when everything is just perfect there is no guarantee all will hatch. Good luck with the hatch and keep us posted and have your camera ready!

thats good, actually what takes the longest in the morning is wanting to handle the young silkies,watch them grow, and lose track of time, lol. My son is the waterfowl guy, so he takes care of those. I need to take pics when i get home, they always grow so fast!
