Nope, nothing today. It's day 26.

It's time to do some autopsy on them, if I get to it before I fall asleep.

The postmortem was not a pleasant experience.

In general, the eggs died in the first week of incubation, based on size.

I opened a few that seemed to have made it to a bigger size. The first had a dead chick. The second had one that moved -

oops, that one might have made it. I found a third one with a dark mass and what looked like healthy blood vessels, plus a few others, and put them back in the incubator. I guess it won't hurt to run it for another week. If that one hatches, it will be a miracle child and rather lonely.

I don't know when the next time will be. I'm game as soon as this week, but I am not finding more eggs to hatch. There was a even an ad on craigslist, but that person is not responding. Anyone near Portland, OR, with eggs for me to hatch?​

My guess would be your temp is too low. The ones that made it are developing and hatching quite late.

Interesting !!! Yes, I think the temp had something to do with it also !!!!

If temperature is the overriding factor, I hope this can be resolved by replacing the thermostat. I suspect it was flakey long before day 17, when it completely failed.

I may also move the incubator to the closet to be farther from windows and heat vents for a more stable temperature.

Of course, I can't seem to find any eggs to hatch now, so I don't know when the next batch will begin.
