I know absolutly nothing about hatching. I am using a hovabator, with an egg turner. Chicks were due today, i am wondering if i kept my temp too high, I maintained 100 degrees. I see talk of candleing, and no i didn't and don't know how.. I gathered eggs for 4 days, kept them on a shelf in the back room. Should I have turned them during that 4 day storage?

Patience is a virtue (what ever the heck that means). They could be late bloomers. Ive heard that in still air hovabators the temp should be between 100 and 102 so don't worry. Oh and as for the candling just get a super bright flashlight and a dark room. Shine the light on the top of the egg where the air cell is located and you should see veining. There are several videos of egg candling on YouTube and on here as well. Hope this helps. Keep us updated

I think you're fine...the temp sounds perfect. I have my frig. set to the lowest setting...which I know is about 45degrees give or take a little and the humidity stays pretty high in there too b/c I have a cup of water in there. I've used my hygrometer to confirm this(I KNOW...I'm A TOTAL DORK!!!)...anyway...I store my eggs big end up...pointy end down...in egg cartons...also helps to retain moisture...and I tilt the cartons at least 3 times a day. This is most likely NOT necessary to have a successful hatch but I sell fertilized eggs and want the people who buy from me to have good hatch rates so I do everything I know of. So far so good...we have AWESOME results with this method of storage. Just saying for next time round. But as far as this time goes...don't sweat it...don't open the bator NO MATTER WHAT! What's your humidity at? As long as it stays above 65% you should be good...I like use a medicine dropper to add water through the vent holes to increase humidity during the hatch too;) Anyway...that's all I know...sit tight...and keep us updated!!!

Candled 10 of 36 eggs last night, nothing in any of them. Guess i'll give up on this batch and try again. The humidity here is aroud 65 % today, and seldom drops below 40%, should i still add water to the bator?

You candled them and didn't see anything at all? Not even a big dark spot? If it's due date and they are clear all the way through, no dark spots, they're duds. Hope you'll be able to get a good hatch soon! Don't give up on all of them after checking only 10. Sometimes some are good and some are duds. Check them all, or leave them be for a few more days to a week and see what happens. Good luck!
