I LOVE there color! They are soo beautiful! Congrats on the hatch!
wish me luck, too, because in like 2-4 days, i will be checking for fertile eggs. two eggs are in the bator right now! I can't wait til they hatch(if they are fertile!
Ok time for math something i'm not good at so if i'm wrong some where please correct me..lol
1st 3 boxes of eggs i got all total to 66 eggs
out the 66 eggs 25 hatch
the 2cnd set of eggs i got total 66 LOL
out of the 8 silkie eggs 4 made it to the hatcher they haven't hatch yet so not counting the 4 silkie eggs but taking out the other 4 plus the button and coturnix eggs
out of the 28 coturnix eggs 10 hatch and out of the 30 button eggs 15 hatch making that total of 25 that hatch still great
An now waiting on the 4 silkie eggs to hatch
so......so far it's 25 and 25 from both sets that hatch.. i think i'm getting very good at this
so from the quails and pheasant hatch this is what i got....
Button quails: 15
Butler Bobwhite:8
Pure White Bobwhite:6
Pheasant:5
Coturnix quails:10
**************************
It may not be the best hatch to most or some but it's was to me
I had 30 chukar eggs, and only 10 in the brooder...
Um, just an observation, but the young chicks shouldn't have scratch/corn... just unmedicated gamebird starter or turkey starter.... the pieces are too big for them, and they need high protein.
Those look like pure white buttons to me, Mark! My silvers were darker. I DO have a pure white male with my silver pair, so it is possible.
I LOVE the pure whites. But they're harder to sex until you hear them crow or lay an egg. LOL!
Congrats!! They are beautiful! What kind are they? Don't look like my coturnix...bobwhites?
Yes, they're bobwhites.
My little girl has been cranking out an egg a day since I got her in April, and showing no signs of stopping.
Unfortunately, the 50# bags of gamebird starter here just went up to $33 a bag...
I picked the wrong time to get involved with birds!!!
