I'm getting the only bag o' feed I can get... locally produced Alaska Mill & Feed brand. There is no other, unless I want to ship it up from the Outside.

Oh... and there's only gamebird starter and gamebird grower... none of those other varieties that were mentioned...

we use medicated flock raiser for most of our game bird chicks or turkey starter for the chicks..depends which one we have on hand when brooding.. I never worry about the costs of feed as its somthing we need, so whatever they charge we pay.. no acception for that..
you'l have to buy what they got in your case..Or buy it by the pallet may be cheaper..

of course less in price here means we end up with more birds/CHICKS being raised..

I don't see the problem with more birds...?

I know... thing is, even on the pallet I can only get it from Anchorage, and the price of gas eats up any savings on the pallet.

Anchorage is 2.5 hours away.

I'm just a little more selective, now. I just couldn't believe it jumped $12/bag since the last time I looked (last week!).

I went to the feed store yesterday to pick up another bag of chick starter and the price doubled from what I paid last month. I was told it was because they only mix thier own during the spring and summer months. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Yeah!!!! Can't wait for pics!!!!!

There aren't many feedstores around here - two to be exact. One is by my house which is where I went the other day and they are a little more expensive. They carry Buckeye and Nutrena but not Layena and they don't carry much in the way of gamebird feed. Mostly chicken and horse feed. My only other option is TSC and it's quite a ways away. They are cheaper and when time permits, I do go there.

Unfortunately we're not a very rural area and the people with horses generally drive many miles to get their feed. Convenience is too expensive.

****UPDATE****

I am very Happy

I don't know WHAT you can do besides pray and hope for the best. Hopefully it'll fizzle out before then? I haven't watched the news. I do know that we'll all be crossing our fingers and toes for you and the babies. Hopefully they'll be out by then...I hope I hope
