overnight the bator was noisy. Before I went to bed I took out 3 chicks, for safety's sake..and this morning I found 5 more!! I didn't get to see who came out of the very darkest brown egg! I am hoping it is the lone black chick,or possibly the red chick. 6 more have pipped! Go chickies, go!!

Yay for chickies and good hatches! I'm really enjoying getting to watch your hatch. I am in lockdown right now and hope to see some action tomorrow night or Tues. I just had a question about something I saw in your pics. The blue thingy with the dials - is it a thermometer/hygrometer? Is it pretty accurate? Where did you get it? I think I'd prefer something like that to my digital. Thanks and please continue to post pics. Its great encouragement for us impatient first-timers.

I got that on Ebay.. I think it's okay but nowhere near accurate enough. It runs a little high. I am not sure about the humidity dial. I bought a digital one as well but now it's in the brinsea. I'd recommend sticking with the digital one, they are cheaper.. That dial one cost me 15.00 +9.99 SH.. and the wal mart digital was 6.00

I ended up with 23/29. I still have the 6 silent eggs in the bator, but wanted to start my duck eggs so they will move out tomorrow. The chicks will go to the Egg Donor, my friend Misty in Rigby. She is thrilled to say the least.. She wants to build her own bator out of a standard refrigerator! I had a lot of fun with these guys and I'm glad I took a lot of pictures.

Oh, they are so cute!! I thought about you this morning! I only had the one chick hatch, everyone else was slient, went to bed about 12:30 am....OY, I thought, bad hatch! But I came down about 2 am to tiny white chick with HUGE feet! She must have popped out of egg carton like popcorn! Then I thought about what your bator must be sounding like about this time!! hahaha I still have 3 I'm waiting on. I forgot I put them in later. I'm testing my black/lavender Ameraucana project birds, dying to see what they look like!!

Thanks for the updates & the photo's! They really help us "ladies in waiting!"

Kind regards;

Some Parting Shots of the bunch! I did lose one, the last chick that hatched. He was very weak after he came out of the egg. But the rest of the bunch are lively little chookies!
