Sorry to hear! Maybe the others will hatch.. I am setting the 10 that I got in to mail today..

my 4 barabanter eggs came today. 5 in the box. 5th one cracked. patched ot up ill c how it goes. hopfully this hatch goes better

Did you put yours in today also? I just got done setting mine! Mine were in good shape.. I hope. They are larger then my other silkie eggs.... Weird.. But we will see what happens with these!

I have ten little babies! And the last egg has a pip, but it was a good 24 hours after the others pipped, so who knows.
Just calibrating the brooder box temp now, for transfer this evening. Photos may follow.

Four little fluffy Barnevelders, and six (100%!) little cheeping Australorps. Bring on the W chromosomes! (Can these breeds be feather sexed by a newbie?)

After I was convinced that I had KILLED THEM ALL (for no reason other than I'm a first timer who was bumbling around sometimes not knowing what she was doing), I think this is an amazing outcome

Nothing like picking up fresh fertile eggs from the barn door, I think?

Good luck! I am going to wait a few days and candle mine.. Can't wait to see how they are doing.. They took a detour some how and bypassed me right up! When to a city almost two hours away... My little ones are going on a field trip today outside to play in the dirt and grass. Hope they enjoy them self because its starting to get cold out. I feel super BAD about my little handicap one..

Can your handicapped chick get around okay? I have a hen who is a couple years old, very severely crossbeaked (I have to trim and shave her beak regularly) and everyone thought I should cull her but she's doing fine-- like a puppy dog following me around. In my first batch of guineas that I adopted , I had one who was blind and one with a badly twisted foot who walked like a crab and they both made it to adulthood, otherwise healthy and happy. If your handicapped chick grows up with it's hatch-mates, they just seem to take it in stride!
One really nice thing about my cross-beak, Amelia, is that I can put her in with young chicks to get them used to the hens-- with her beak, she really can't do any damage (and she LOVES chick starter!)

hows it goin jeh those eggs still goin good i cant wait till tommorow day 21 for my 1st batch it was the only 1 to make it in this batch it was movin on day 18 so i can only hope good luck to every1

At first s/he was just flopping around and couldnt get around.. I had to help the little get on its foot and stood in it while s/he was drinking some water. Not s/he is learning how to use that one leg to hop around.. At first it was quick hops and not its more slow and balance.. S/he is getting it down. He uses his deformed leg to balance it self. A lot of people would cull mine too but I Just couldnt. I had to give it a fair chance on living a happy life. Even tho I would need to give it more special attention at times, which I dont care because s/he I want them to live a happy life! You can see for yourself how s/he gets around. I setup a brooder cam for anyone who wants to watch. I did this for me because I just want to make sure they are doing ok while at work. I also had an hatch cam to watch them as they hatch. I will have one set up for this batch too. But anyways, the address for the cam is http://www.ustream.tv/channel/james-brooder-cam Just watch it and you will notice which one s/he is. I also have a photo bucket account with pictures of his let. I can't access photobucket from work but if you go to my website and click on chickens there is a link to my account on photobucket.

So far so good. I checked the thermometer this morning and it keeps a recorder of the highs and lowest temps and it got up to 102.7F I am not sure how long it was at that temp but it shouldnt have been long because it was at 99.5 when I woke up this morning. So, on the 25th I will candle them and see whats going on. I am hoping I can get some decent pictures this time when I candle them. I am hoping I get at east 4 or 5 but we will see what happens!! keep us updated with yours!
